Emovis, a global expert in toll-based mobility products, services, and solutions, actively participated in the IBTTA Finance, Road Usage Charging & Managed Lanes Summit 2026, held from March 29–31, 2026, in Norfolk, Virginia. Hosted by Elizabeth River Crossings and the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Summit brought together senior executives, public-sector leaders, and technical experts to explore the future of roadway revenue and mobility.
During the opening session, Anna Bonet, CEO of Elizabeth River Crossings, highlighted Abertis’s global presence, specifically Emovis and its capabilities. Both Emovis and Elizabeth River Crossings are part of the Abertis Group, which shares a vision focused on operational excellence, technological innovation, and the development of sustainable mobility infrastructure worldwide.
The event took place at a pivotal moment for the transportation industry, as declining fuel tax revenues are accelerating the need for innovative, usage-based, and sustainable funding models. In this context, Emovis reaffirmed its commitment to advancing free-flow tolling, road-user charging, and managed-lanes solutions.
The Emovis delegation included Christian Barrientos, CEO of Emovis; Marc Deflin, Chief Sales Officer North America; Pablo Odena, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer; Miguel Melchor, Head of Growth, Market Development & Public Affairs; and Konstantinos Sakkos, Technical Solutions Manager. Throughout the Summit, the team engaged with government agencies, operators, and industry stakeholders.
On March 29, Konstantinos Sakkos participated in the Managed Lanes and Finance Roundtables, under the discussion “Managed Lanes access challenges and emerging technology approaches.” Key topics included challenges around driver understanding of access rules and HOV eligibility, growing interest in lighter roadside infrastructure, and the transition toward hybrid, multi-technology environments supported by intelligent back-office systems.
In a context shaped by the evolution of Express Lanes, Emovis’ participation in IBTTA events reinforces its position as a trusted strategic partner for toll operators and transport authorities, contributing global expertise and solutions that transform mobility and tolling systems.
